Transferring Inductive Loads in Water and Wastewater Facilities
Water treatment facilities use energy-intensive processes involving many electrically driven pumps. Because these are large inductive loads, power system designers need to consider and manage the inrush currents that will or could result from starting them. Improperly controlled, such as when switching between generator and utility power, inrush currents can disrupt operation, trip circuit breakers, and damage equipment.
