Commercial Backup Power Systems and Ground Fault Management
Commercial buildings provide a venue for various economic activities, ranging from office work to retail, entertainment, and dining. Providing a safe environment for its occupants is critical to its success. Risks such as power outages and hazards can significantly disrupt the smooth operations, safety, and comfort of all individuals within the premises. One way to mitigate power hazards is through ground fault management.
What are ground faults?
Ground faults are unintended electrically conductive connections between an ungrounded conductor and normally noncurrent-carrying conductors, metallic objects such as enclosures, or earth.
By energizing items that people can touch, they can create a safety hazard such as injury and equipment damage. When they subsist at levels below the fusing current, they can also create a fire hazard.
